Meet Dr. Pobanz
John Pobanz, DDS
I am a lifelong student in orthodontics, and I enjoy incorporating what I learn into our practice. Everything I do is centered on providing quality treatments for my patients and a positive orthodontic experience.
Education and Continuing Education
Prior to becoming an orthodontist, I completed my DDS degree at University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1996, then attained my MS degree in Oral Biology and Orthodontics at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1998. I was awarded Diplomate Status by the American Board of Orthodontics in 2006, and became a certified educator of the Damon System in 2011.
I regularly lecture to professional audiences on a national level about all areas of Orthodontic practice: marketing, management, and clinical excellence. I have also published renowned articles in the American Journal of Periodontal Research, the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, and The Progressive Orthodontist magazine.

In the Practice
I have been serving the people of our community with quality orthodontics since 1998, and I love what I do! I am truly lucky to be an orthodontist, and to use my skills to give my patients a higher quality of life. I enjoy getting to know each person throughout treatment. I think of myself as more than an orthodontist, but also as part of our community, and I care about the patients and families who come to visit our practice.
I devote so much of my time to continuing my orthodontic education because I know that is the best way to ensure my patients always receive the most efficient and comfortable care. I utilize many different types of treatment because each person is different with unique needs. I specialize in Damon passive self-ligation therapy, TOMAS TAD mechanics, and have years of experience utilizing Invisalign clear aligners. My treatments provide optimal facial and smile aesthetics by avoiding the removal of permanent teeth 90% of the time.
Family and Community
I am a native of Ogden, and lived here my entire life with the exception of time spent in dental and orthodontic training in Nebraska. When I am not in the office, I love spending quality time with my wife and kids. I am active in my church, and enjoy being a scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts of America, as well as a basketball coach for a competition level girls’ team. I also enjoy skiing, boating, and training for triathlons.
