Are Braces Right for My Child?
Determining if your child needs braces requires imaging and an exam with Dr. Pobanz or Dr. Tuttle. Common signs that may indicate the need for braces include crowded teeth, gaps between teeth, overbites, underbites, crossbites, and difficulty chewing or biting. Your dentist may have referred you to our office if they saw signs of these issues at your child’s last appointment.
Main Types of Orthodontic Treatment
The type of orthodontic treatment recommended will depend on your child’s specific needs and age.
Braces
- Traditional Braces. These involve metal brackets and wires to gradually move teeth into their correct positions.
- Damon Braces. Damon braces are available in both traditional metal and virtually invisible ceramic styles.
- Pitts21. This option uses metal or ceramic brackets to move the teeth, but instead of using a ton of wires and plastic bands, Pitts 21 only requires a single underwire that keeps the brackets taut.
